More and more customers expect 24/7 support on your website, but it’s not practical (or healthy) to remain at your desk on the web dashboard for such long periods. Fortunately, our Android app lets you continue serving customers while on the go.
Not only does the app let you chat with customers, with it you can
- Stay on top of incoming chats with push notifications and alert sounds
- Respond to complex questions with pre-set Shortcuts
- Send and receive files straight through the mobile interface
Today we’re proud to announce a significant update to our Android app, including a brand new look, a more reliable backend, and a couple of new features.
Modernized User Interface and Improved Performance
The biggest update to the Android App is its adoption of the latest design standards. Alongside improvements in stability and battery life consumption, our designers have applied Google’s Material Design framework to ensure the app looks great on all modern Android devices.
The updated design also lets us add oft-requested features such as tag support via a shortcut.
Agent to Agent Chat
On the web dashboard agents can easily talk to other agents if they want to clarify a point or ask a question. Today we’re bringing the same functionality to the Android app. By clicking on the new “Team” button, your agents will be able to see other online agents and talk to them - whether they are on the web dashboard or in the app.
Improved Localization and Accessibility
One of the biggest critiques we had about the older versions of the app were the lack of localization. The new version of the app will take note of your device language and automatically switch to that one.
As of today, the app is now translated in the following languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, Czech, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), Danish, Dutch, German, Greek, English (UK), English (US), Finnish, French, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese
Today’s update of the app also adds support for customers with visual impairments, including a major improvement to the app supporting screen readers like TalkBack.
Slowly Rolling Out
Starting today version 1.0 of the Zopim Android App will start rolling out to all devices. In the next couple of weeks we anticipate that all devices will have the update available to download.
Let us know in the comments below what you think about the app.
Note: The new version of the Android app will support Android devices on 4.0.3 and above (including the latest Nougat release). Devices using an OS version below 4.0.3 will not get future updates but the last supported version installed on your device will continue to work for the time being.
