    Hi,

We are interested, but I have a few questions:

    1. How do we know if we're using the web widget vs the chat widget?  From earlier conversations with ZD I believe we implemented chat only with the web widget, but want to know how I can tell.

    2.  Is this enabling authentication in general, or, are you only enabling authentication to folks who are Zendesk end users?  i.e. would we be able to authenticate against our system data using this functionality, or, only against ZD data?

    Thanks!

    Hi Lila,

    1. I had a browse on your site, looks like you are using the Chat standalone widget on the product pages but not sure if it's the same everywhere. Looks like its being activated via Google Tag Manager, you can check there and see what snippet is being fired. If it is the standalone Chat widget everywhere, you would be eligible for this early access program.

    2. This isn't related to the Zendesk Support end user model. You would be passing to us the customer information (like name, email, external ID) from your authentication system via a JWT token that is applied using a new Javascript API.

    Thanks!

Thanks Ramin.  I spoke to a few folks internally and we're not yet ready to do this...but we are interested for the future and will likely moving to a web widget.  Do you know yet when you will support authentication in the web widget?

No problem, web widget support will most likely become available by mid/end Q2. We will update the announcement post when it becomes available.
