It might be a good idea to have the Zopim Dashboard displayed away from Zendesk.
- This way you can better multitask and switch between windows (ALT + TAB) instead of switching inside the Zendesk page.
- You can refresh the Zopim Dashboard if it starts to misbehave (becomes slow or unresponsive) without having to reload both Zendesk and Zopim, and vice versa you can refresh Zendesk without it affecting Zopim.
- You can start up the Zopim Dashboard independently of Zendesk (and any other Chrome tabs you may have open).
Now you can have Zendesk and Zopim on different tabs if you want, but I’m going to show you how to have Zopim in its own window with its own application button in the Windows taskbar.
You can see how that will look above.
How to set up the Zopim Dashboard outside of Zendesk
As long as you access Zopim inside Zendesk you will be automagically logged in, but when you access it on its own you may need to sign in again (the first time).
If you don't have to login from here you can skip step 1 and 2.
Step 1. Find your Zopim login username
Go to the Analytics tab and click the Download CSV button in the upper right corner, in the Recipients field you will see an email address. Copy it.
Step 2. Log into the Zopim Dashboard
Go to https://dashboard.zopim.com/ and, if you are not already logged in, use the email you just copied as well as your Zendesk password, tick the Remember me check box and click sign in.
You should now be logged in to the Zopim Dashboard.
If you would also like to have the ability to open it from its own button in the Windows task bar, please follow the other steps below.
Step 3. Ad the Dashboard to the Windows taskbar
Click the Chrome settings button (Hamburger icon) and select More tools > Add to taskbar….
Step 4. Give the menu button a name and add.
You should now have an orange icon that launches the Zopim Dashboard.
The differences between Zendesk and Zopim Dashboards
There are a few stylistic differences between the Zendesk and Zopim chat window, in the Zopim Dashboard you end a chat by clicking the orange X in the upper right corner, in Zendesk there is a button called End Chat in the same place.
See the comparison below.
