Ability to make chat pop out in new window by default

    Hi Michael,

    I couldnt see the chat widget on your site to test it out: https://www.markeluk.com/contact-us

    But I tested the same scenario on my website using GTM and the API call in the button/image worked fine. Like Froeming mentioned in your chat, you will need to use the API to make this work.

    So this is what needs to be done to get what you want:

    1. Add Zopim snippet as a tag in the GTM container and paste the container snippet on your page

    2. Turn off Chat widget from the Widget Settings page

    This will ensure the widget is hidden until the visitor clicks on the image/button that calls the JS API to open it up in a popout.

    3. Create a button/image that runs something like this:
    javascript:void($zopim.livechat.window.openPopout())

    If you do all of that, it should work just fine as it did on my test website using GTM with the Zopim snippet.

    Thanks,

    Ramin

    Ramin,

    Thanks for the solution. #3 was the issue in our case as we didn't wrap the function in a javascript tag. IE didn't like it otherwise!

    Hey Heather,

    I reached out to our internal team here and it looks like the Hide Widget button is not available through the Chat dashboard. You would need to use the API to accomplish this.

    Let us know if you have any other questions :)
